It was that time of year again for the Lads Club
amateurs halloween fancy dress party. Friday the 27th Oct the boys and
their families and friends got dressed up to raise some money for the club at
the Sportsman's on
The evening kicked off with a disco and everyone
was welcomed by our compere Osama Bin Laden (Joey).
Irish Bingo was first on the agenda. As
the game went on the crazy Monk with his half bottle of buckfast
(Dougie), Little Red Riding Hood (Alison), the Cowboy (Harry) and the
Queen of Hearts (Dawn) were all out of the game within the first 5
minutes. Then Zombie (Ryan), Man being eaten by Shark (Ross) and the
Witch (Nicola) were soon out. The last 3 standing were battling it out on
the dance floor praying there numbers were not called. Finally Steve Irvin's
number was up and he was out of the game. Batman (Hale) and the Convict
(Andy Duncan) were the last 2 on the dance floor fighting it out for the £40
cash prize. The last number was finally called, Batman was the
winner................ or so we thought. As Batman's ticket was being
checked it was soon discovered that Batman had not been entirely
honest............The Convict was the real winner. As Andy's wife Laura
was just thinking of ways of spending the £40, Andy then kindly donated
the money back to the club. Thank you Andy.
As the night progressed it was then time for
the raffle. Tickets had been sold at the beginning of the night by
the two lovely Police Officers (Gillian and Laura). As Bin Laden was
pulling out the numbers with the help of his assistant the angelic fairy
(Shona), it was soon realised by all that nobody was going to win as The
Webster brothers' Keith, Ryan & Ross were scooping all the prizes. It
then came to the two big prizes of the night, the second prize a full car
service from Belmont which was kindly donated from Steve Irvin and the first
prize a 4x4 offroad driving experience from Town and County donated by the
gorgeous tanned Hawian girl (Dod). Everyone was hoping that the
Webster's had run out of luck...how wrong. Ross Webster scooped both
prizes.
It was now time for the real party to begin.
The drinks were flowing and the dance floor started to fill
up. Rambo (Mark) and Elvis (Goldie) were soon spotted dancing on the
dance floor with a nun, a cowgirl and batgirl. As the WAGS were all
dancing away to the music they suddenly realised that some of
the boys had disappeared....they were soon found. Propping up the
bar was Batman's side kick Robin (
The DJ then stopped the music to announce that the
buffet was open which was organised by The Witch (Eunice). The Monk
and the Pirate (Creamer) were spotted eating like they had never seen
food before, even though we all know that The Monk is a regular at Jimmy
Chung's!!!!
There was a surprise visit from our pal Freddie
Kruger (Stuart Leslie). He had come all the way over from the
As the night wore on it was time for the DJ to
choose the best dressed. It was a hard decision but he finally chose
Joey's niece, Vicki, who had dressed up as baby with her freckles, her
bottle and her pink babygrow.
Finally, the Committee would like to say thank you
to everyone for making such a huge effort with their costumes. A big
thank you to the Sportsman's for preparing the buffet and decorating the
place. Thank you to Brucie and Keith for collecting tickets at the
door. Thank you to Laura and Gillian for selling the raffle tickets and
the irish bingo. A huge thank you to all who donated raffle prizes and
who bought raffle tickets. And finally a big thank you to Eunice and Joe
for organising the evening.
